What is the maximum acreage that can be represented by one soil sample?

This depends on soil variations, topography (slope) and previous land use. Generally sample size should be restricted to 30- 50 acres per sample in broad acre crops, but in intensive cropping (vegetables) , a sample per field should be taken, to account for previous management (i.e. manure may have been applied in one area which increases fertility).

Check our sampling procedure (under downloads) for more information on soil sampling.
